Teachers
All of our teachers are certified through Romana's Pilates. We are so very proud to have working Tina Campbell, Trina Link, and Sarah Blood as instructors at Dulak Pilates Center.
Tina Campbell is fascinated by the human body and loves to share her passion with others. She was first introduced to The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning by her college dance professor, Janice Dulak, and she chose to dedicate herself to Pilates as an adjunct to her studies in contemporary, classical, and ethnic dance at Stephens College. Tina moved to Chicago to apprentice with Romana's PIlates teachers, including Romana Kryzanowska. She completed the 600-hour Authentic Pilates Teacher Training program in 2002 and soon found work teaching in a chiropractic center, learning about chronic and acute injuries and how to apply the principles of Pilates in different situations to rehabilitate the body. This experience has shaped the way she deals with clients in athletic and rehabilitative settings.
During this time, she began realizing the importance of human touch for healing her own body and began to receive Thai Yoga Therapy and massage regularly. The experience of passive stretching and meditative breathing of the ancient Thai technique became a perfect complement to the active stretching and vigor of Pilates. Tina continues to study with master teachers and practitioners of Pilates and Thai Massage. When she is not engaged with work, Tina loves to travel the world, hiking and exploring the flora and fauna of every landscape. She is a passionate chef in the kitchen; experimenting with local, organic ingredients and alternative preparation techniques.
Trina Link has been teaching at DPC for 3 years now, after completing her apprenticeship under Janice. After two years teaching at DPC, Trina took some time to teach in France. Now she has returned, and is dedicated to teaching and learning ever more about Pilates.
Sarah Blood has been teaching at DPC for one full year now, after completing her apprenticeship under Janice.
We also have our wonderful apprentices who are beginning their journeys as Pilates instructors. They are now teaching some lessons, and soon will be teaching the starting levels of instruction at DPC.

Dulak Pilates Center is dedicated to the teachings of Joseph H. Pilates. Joseph Pilates was born in Germany and developed his exercise method called “Contrology” as a way to help himself overcome childhood illnesses. His work is based on flexing and stretching the muscles with control.
Originally, his exercises were only done on the mat where the only resistance is the body itself. However, because this is the most difficult work to feel and do correctly, Joseph created apparatus based on spring resistance which helps the student understand exactly which muscles to engage to create a movement.
What can Pilates do for me?
Pilates can give you the movement experience of a dancer! Who doesn’t want to move like that? It will keep you strong and flexible and teach you to move with a total sense of the body.
Why is Pilates better than working out in a gym?
A gym work out is great, but it doesn’t teach integration of the body. For example at DPC we can teach you to feel that you can lift your arms from your back, and by doing so ease pain in the shoulder! The understanding of the integration of the body from the Pilates Powerhouse is what makes Pilates so applicable to all activities and physical conditions.
Is all Pilates the same?
No, in fact, not all Pilates is the same. In his lifetime, Joseph Pilates taught a lot of people who have since carried on his work. However, Romana Kryzanowska is the only one who stayed by his side in the New York studio until he died in the 1960’s. Joe left all his writings and research records to Romana. To me that suggests that, although all Pilates is good for you, the original teachings lie in those who are certified through Romana.

“Before Pilates my back was a sea of pain, with weak muscles and noticeable atrophy. I have gained so much strength, muscle shape and tone that now I have returned to my favorite sport of running—something I had to give up six years ago. Back pain is all but gone, too!”
– Dorothy L.
“You are serious about what you do, but bring such a joy of discovery to your work that, that is what really shines through.”
– Lisa Libman
